Important update: the rehearsals for Carmina Burana will start on January 19th and not the 12th as originally suggested.

After our Christmas concert in Hexham Abbey on December 16th, the first concert for two years, we were raising money for Crisis at Christmas. A generous total of £680 was given in cash at the concert, but many people donated via our Just Giving page raising a total of £1577 to which they should be able to add £207 through Gift Aid.

Our next concert will be on Saturday May 7th in Hexham Abbey where we will be performing Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana.

Please note: due to the current Covid restrictions you cannot just turn up for rehearsals unexpectedly. If you wish to join Hexham Orpheus Choir as a new member please fill in your details on the Contact Us page.

There is information about reducing the risk of transmission of Covid-19 at rehearsals on the Members page.

In addition, the choir participates in a variety of musical events, such as carol concerts and charity fundraising events, and has appeared over the years at various venues including Hexham Abbey, the Queen Elizabeth High school and churches throughout the region. The Choir is also available for private functions.

As a non-auditioned choir, the Orpheus provides a platform for people of differing musical backgrounds to come together and perform a wide variety of choral music, from renaissance to contemporary. New members are always made very welcome, and are encouraged to participate in the choir’s active social calendar.Rehearsals normally take place at Trinity Methodist Church (Beaumont Street, Hexham NE46 3LS) on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. (generally in school term-time only).

The annual membership fee is £90.
