Term dates

Generally speaking we follow the Northumberland school terms and take a break for half term, Easter, Summer and Christmas. Occasionally we will run through and not take a holiday and we will let the choir know and update the website to reflect plans as soon as we can.

Music on the first day of a new term

On the first day back in a new term, music is available from 7pm. Please try to arrive early so that the rehearsal starts promptly.

Concert Dress

There are sometimes variations on this, especially for the summer concert, but normally this is:

Gentlemen: DJ, white shirt, black bow tie, purple square

Ladies: black blouse, black skirt or black trousers, purple scarf

We are now out of stock of the purple squares and scarves and so the use of these will be reviewed.

Summer concert

The Summer term is usually shorter and in recent years instead of a formal concert we have held a soirée style evening with lighter music combined with solos and small group contributions. Concert dress is relaxed and we tend to wear Summer dresses/pastel coloured shirts. This is held in Trinity Methodist Hall and simple refreshments are provided.

Quiz Night

Usually in November and at the Tyne Green Golf Club, this is often very well attended.

February – Hexham Orpheus Choir Party

The Choir Party is more like an annual review and historically is held upstairs in The Community Centre, Hexham during February. We have an MC or two who steer us through the evening and introduces the performers. All entertainment is provided by members of the choir and we aim to have a variety of humorous and serious acts.

Food is served buffet style and we tuck into the shared supper about half way through the evening.

Choir Dinner

A fund-raising meal often held during June has recently been hosted at Vercelli’s. A three course meal is chosen and paid for in advance. About £5 of the cost of the meal goes towards choir funds.

Pub

Everyone is welcome to join us after rehearsal. We always meet in the Beaumont on Beaumont Street shortly after rehearsals.

Help!

We are a growing choir and a small committee. Any offers of help in organising events, refreshments and concerts would be gratefully received. If you would like to help in any way then please contact any of the committee. We are also particularly interested to hear from anyone who has particular skills to offer.
